VENUE: Ratliff Ferry Trading Post

The Dirt Deacons are back at Ratliff Ferry on Saturday, September 10. The band have been performing at Ratliff Ferry Trading Post since early 2021. The venue is an old store in a bend of the Pearl River that was a historically important spot to cross the river going back to the days when there were few places to cross. There was, as the name suggests, a ferry that helped folks do that. But, there was also once a railroad bridge and the old concrete piling are still visible in the river.

Ratliff Ferry was a ferry point to get lumber out of the Pearl River swamp early in the last century, and was once a crossing point for the Canton and Carthage Railroad, which last ran in 1961.

Just off the Natchez Trace Parkway, Ratliff Ferry is now a prime spot to launch a trip up and down the Pearl River, catch some good music, good food, and cold drinks.

The Dirt Deacons have had some memorable shows here. One such show was on May 23, 2022 and involved a young drummer named Kelvin Brandon Lebeau. The 9-year old sat in for a song and showed he is clearly on his way to a bright future as a drummer. (Watch Video)
