The Dirt Deacons Reach Top 20-percent On Spotify.

With Unexpected Showing, The Dirt Deacons Get Ready To Head Back Into The Studio For Follow Up Release

The Dirt Deacons have been on all music platforms with their single ‘Good Day’ for one month now, recently expanding their reach into the top 20-percent of listeners on Spotify with 1,322 monthly listeners. The song nearly doubled in the rate of streams and listens over the weekend, giving the band an unexpected boost.

“I’m not sure we really ever had a specific goal for how this would pan out once we released ‘Good Day,’ said vocalist Keith Plunkett, “certainly not one we discussed. We’ve all been playing live music for a long time, and we’ve written and recorded our own music before, but this was our first dive into the digital platform.”

Plunkett says after reading up on the platform he thought reaching 500 listeners on Spotify would be a “pretty respectful showing.”

Nearly tripling that number was unexpected.

We got picked up by a radio show out of the U.K. that helped us a bit, a couple of weeks ago,” said Plunkett. “But with much of Spotify’s algorithm being proprietary information that isn’t publicly known — with us being novices at this we can’t really say for sure where the boost came from yet. We probably will never know. This is all new stuff.”

Spotify has over 11 million artists on the music platform with over 80-percent of those never reaching 1,000 listeners. With the boost in listeners The Dirt Deacons new single nearly doubled in stream rates overnight between July 20 and July 21.

“Judging from looking at some of the numbers of some of our friends who have released music recently, our single is ripe for another boost in growth,” Plunkett said. “This will really help us reach new audiences with the other upcoming music we’re about to start working on in the studio.”

“We’re really happy with where we are right now. We’ve been in discussions with promoters who are showing an interest in expanding our live music into new venues,” added Plunkett. “And ultimately that’s where we aim to be — on stage in front of new and growing audiences.”
