Heart of the Delta Tornado Relief Fund

The Dirt Deacons are very fortunate we get to celebrate nearly every week with people. Sometimes it’s special events, sometimes festivals, sometimes just a weekend to turn loose and enjoy some good tunes. We’re also very fortunate that people want to celebrate with us. But life is not just celebration. It is occasionally the need to pitch in and offer a helping hand.

By now, you’ve likely heard plenty of heartbreaking stories about the devastating tornadoes that ripped a path across Mississippi a week ago. We are thankful for the dedication and hard work of the first responders, the volunteers who have continued to help families dig their livelihoods out of the rubble of their homes and businesses, and those groups of people collecting water and food and other supplies to distribute to those who, in some cases, lost everything.

Communities are coming together. But it’s impossible for everyone who wants to help to physically be there. That’s why #TheDirtDeacons are pleased to be able to join with a group of local businesses and individuals in Belzoni to promote a way for everyone, no matter where you may be, a chance to help through the organization of Heart of the Delta.

Heart of the Delta is a registered non-profit organization that allows individuals and corporations to provide resources for families affected by the storms. Your donation is tax-deductible and every dime goes to provide relief.

The Dirt Deacons will donate a portion of the proceeds from our performance at the World Catfish Festival this weekend to this fund. We are asking all musicians—whether you are playing the festival alongside us, or whether you are performing elsewhere this weekend to join us in that effort. Give what you can. Every bit helps.

You can give directly online through a PayPal link HERE:  https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/theheartofthedelta

The need is great and it will be a long term recovery for many. Please pray for the families that they may remain resilient and face this challenge with continued grit and determination. And if you can, join us this weekend at the World Catfish Festival as the community comes together during this difficult time. We all need the warmth of a smiling face and a helping hand from time to time. And now is exactly that time.

Please share this information with others. And let’s all help in the recovery. Thank you.
